The
Fayette Antique Auto Club was organized in April of 1998.
The club was formed to drive and enjoy our antique cars with family and
friends who own and love vintage automobiles.
From its formation in 1998, the club has grown to 65 members, and
continues to grow yearly. To join
you must own a car 25 years old or older. You can join online, or call Charles
Johnson at 724-736-4049, or Dave Dahl at 724-438-5455.
Dues are $5.00 a year, enough to cover the postage for the monthly
newsletters.
We try to do at least one tour a month from May to October.
We meet with our cars in Uniontown, and all travel together so that in
the event of a breakdown we can help that person.
One rule that the club has while on tour is that we only travel as fast
as the slowest car can travel. The
club also purchased walkie-talkies to monitor all cars while on a trip. The
tours are to historic sites, and factories and plants in the area.
Needless to say we also hit all the good places to eat along the trail.
Each year Idlewild Park invites us to bring our cars to the park to help them
celebrate “Old Fashion Days at Idlewild Park.” The driver and one passenger are admitted free to ride,
and enjoy the park all day. A
parade is held through the park with all the cars at 6PM, ending a great day of
fun.
Our new web master, and car member, Bob Johnson has agreed to
take over our website. He has
remodeled and revised it to reflect changes in the club, photos of the club
members cars and restoration projects, along with stories of interest will be
added.
Every year the club has its spring
kickoff breakfast in March or April to elect officers and discuss business of
the club. We also have a
summer picnic, and this year we are going to try and have it at Sampey Park in
Perryopolis, complete with Hotdogs and Hamburgers!
We end the year with a grand Christmas Party were we all meet, greet, and
eat with fun and fellowship.
All events are open to the entire family. This year we
are looking into some overnight tours.
We are always looking for new places to tour. If you’re in the area and have something of interest,
please contact. us
